Abstract
Material testing equipment is developed in this project, which allows fatigue testing of materials in a time and energy saving way. Specimens are stimulated to high frequency vibrations using ultrasonic technology, which leads to cyclic loading of the material at testing frequencies of about 20.000 Hz. With this method, cyclic properties of materials can be tested approximately factor 100 faster compared with conventional testing equipment. Energy necessary to perform these tests is approximately factor 10.000 lower than in conventional tests.
