Abstract
Since the 11th Five-Year Plan, Circular Economy (CE) is a central element of the Chinese economic policy. The heavily increasing consumption of resources and partly serious environmental pollution shall be managed by closing material cycles and by emission control. The project includes an analysis of the strategy of CE, the evaluation of data which are displaying this strategy and a comparison to the development in the EU. In the project the Institute of Waste Management takes tasks to collect up to date data on waste management in China and EU, to contribute to the development of indicators measuring the progress and to draw a first comparison between China and EU.
