Abstract
Due to EU regulationsfordecreasingtheemissionof CO2newtypesofcementsaregaining in importance in Slovakia. During 2008 threetypesofportlandcements CEM II/B-M,containing a cementklinkerproportionbetween 65 – 79 %,havebeendeveloped in conformitywith STN EN 197-1. Forevery type ofcement3 sampleswith 150 mm lengthhavebeenproducedandtested. The resultswerecomparedwiththestandard Portland cement CEM II/B-S. Asidefromthatnofurthertestingconcerningnewtypesofcementhavebeenaccomplished in Slovakia. The abovementionedexperimentsleadtotheimprovementoftheSlovakiannormSTN EN 206-Z1, latterdeclarestheapplicabilityof all combinations oft he principalcomponents(blast furnaceslag, silica, zeoliteandfinelygroundedlimestone). The amountofaggregateissetupbetween 21 and 35 %with a maximumof limestone of 20%. In connectionwiththeintroductionofotherportlandclinker-savingcementsthe CEM V type, thatisrarelyorrather notused in Slovakiaand Austria so far, shouldbecertificatedfor a commonusage. Advantage ofthe CEM V type isthereductionoftheportlandclinkerproportionandtheusageoflocalSlovakianpozzolansources. CEM V/A has a cementclinkerproportionof 40 – 64 m-% and 18-30 m-% pozzolanes, CEM V/B 20-38 m-% cementclinkerand 31 – 55 m-% pozzolanes. Intensive material testingsforthe CEM V/A and CEM V/B isusedtodeterminetheirtechnicalcharacteristics such astypesoftheexistinghydratephases, porosityandpermeability. The resultswerecomparedwith a standardcement CEM I. Withthehelp oft he processedsurveyresultstheapplication potentialforpracticaluseofthe CEM V/A and CEM V/B shouldbejustified.
