Climate Policy Integration in Federal States: Adaptation, Mitigation and Sustainable Development in Austria, Germany and Switzerland
Abstract
CLIP-IN aims to facilitate the integration of climate change mitigation and adaptation policies hori-zontally across sectors and vertically across levels of government in federal states, in particular in Austria. More specifically, the disciplinary political science research proposed here aims to • Analyse how the Austrian, German and Swiss governments integrate (or “clip-in”) climate poli-cies horizontally and vertically, learn from challenges and good practices, and deduce recom-mendations on how to improve climate policy integration; • Review how integrated strategies concerned with climate change are linked with each other and how these linkages can be strengthened; • Transfer lessons from the implementation of ‘older’ integrated strategies on climate change mitigation and sustainable development to ‘newer’ climate adaptation strategies.
