Abstract
Annex 5.1 of the Austrian Landfill Directive (2008) contains requirements regarding the formation of gases in strongly alkaline residues, which were destined originally for the transport of waste only (ADR). Observations in the practice revealed that this ADR-Test is not suitable for waste management purposes, for example for quantification of heat and hydrogen formation in landfills. Therefore, a new test has to be developed.
