Biodiversity and Citizen Science

In order to raise the interest of young people for sciences and nature conservation, this project tries to combine innovative ways of didactics for university students and high school pupils. In this inter- and transdisciplinary approach, BOKU-students and pupils from several high schools in Vienna and Lower Austria, will collect, process and communicate data of selected animal and plant species. They are guided by teachers as well as local specialists and stakeholders. Longer-term, the project aims to establish local networks of biodiversity monitoring with the support of the young volunteers. A key aspect is also the evaluation of suitable methods and approaches for the motivation of this age group.
