Abstract
RiskAdapt aims at providing policy-relevant insights and conclusions concerning the current and future Austrian anticipatory flood risk management under climate change scenarios. The project investigates the opportunities and constraints for decreasing flood risk by focusing on the integration of knowledge from various scientific disciplines and stakeholders. RiskAdapt applies a novel dynamic flood risk assessment approach, where both aspects of risk – hazard and vulnerability– will be analysed considering their potential spatial and temporal developments. The project builds on a comprehensive and integrated understanding of hazard and vulnerability in combination with community based adaptation policy assessments. The results of RiskAdapt are derived from flood risk assessment methods revalued by the knowledge, capabilities and preferences of local, regional and national stakeholders.
