sro_peripher 2030: Effects of different interventions scenarios on the future demographic development in peripheral rural areas of Lower Austria and Burgenland
Abstract
In the last forty years, the rural study region “sro_peripher“ has been confronted with a continuous outmigration. The development paths – regarding settlement structure, demographic and economic development – of its sub-region, however, have been quite diverse. We can identify growth poles as well as shrinking communities. In a transdisciplinary scenario process, knowledge from public administration, regional management and science will be integrated to analyse different intervention scenarios for the study area towards the year 2030. Quantitative simulation will be integrated with qualitative, discourse based elements to sketch integrative and demonstrative pictures of diverging development options and their consequences for demographic and settlement structures.
