Abstract
The generation of digital surface models from arial photographs can be considered state-of-the art. Disadvantages of this data source include the limited spectral resolution and the low revisit frequency. Satellite-based World View 2 data offer unprecedent spectral resolution (8 spectral channels) and high spatial resolution (2 m). The project aims evaluating the potential of this new data source for DSM generation and subsequent regionalisation of forest inventories. Important variables include for example tree height, structure, crown coverage, DBH, and tree density.
