Research Focus

Ing. Dr. Christoph Kogler MSc. BSc. is a dedicated postdoctoral researcher and enthusiastic lecturer at the BOKU University and University of Applied Sciences Campus Vienna. His research focuses on supply chain and risk management, logistics, transportation, business analytics, industrial engineering, sustainability research and strategic analyses for the bioeconomy with methods such as simulation, optimization, business process modelling and empirical surveys.

He was nominated for Austria’s State Award for Teaching in 2022 and 2023 and his newly developed courses have been inducted in the Atlas for Excellent Teaching of Austria’s Federal Ministry of Education, Science and Research (bit.ly/ATLASFH, bit.ly/ATLASBOKU). Furthermore, he received fellowships from the Freiburg Rising Stars Academy, Austrian Marshall Plan Foundation, and Special Interest Group on Simulation and Modeling of the Association for Computing Machinery as well as teaching (awarded by former BOKU Rector Matin Gerzabek), paper (awarded by former BOKU Rector Hubert Hasenauer), dissertation, and international-communication awards.

During his research stays at the University of California in Berkeley, Brno University of Technology and University Freiburg he contributed as keynote speaker, guest lecturer, collaboration initiator, as well as organizer of scientific symposium and workshops. He serves as reviewer for more than 30 journals, section and proceedings editor, editorial board member, session chair as well as program committee member and speaker for scientific conferences in North and South America, Europe as well as Asia.

His research motivation is rooted in a multifaceted, scientific curiosity, the desire to shape a fair transition towards a sustainable bioeconomy for current and future generations through the use of interdisciplinary methods from the economic, social, and computer science, and the incentive to make innovative contributions to science, economy and teaching.
