Research Focus
My work is about how plants interact with the environment and how we can use this knowledge to grow plants in a sustainable way. I mainly focus on trees and mixed forests but also on agroforestry and sustainable food production in the global south where I work with capacity building. To understand how plants interact with each other and with the soil microbes and how these interaction are affected by disturbances such as drought and nutrient deficiency I study plant traits and soil microbe activity and community. A sustainable recourse use can boost production over long time and the answer on how to do that can partly be found in the plant and soil microbe physiological response to each other and to stress.
