Research Focus
The main research interest is the interaction and interplay between plants, rootstocks and fruits. The physiological ripening disorder berry shrivel is at the centre of research, alongside with questions of fruit quality. New research questions focuses on the interaction of biotic and abiotic stress on the nutrient uptake of the vines and the development of the fruits. We are looking at the physiological, biochemical and molecular levels using different methodological approaches. In addition, other applied research areas focus on the ecosystem services of vineyards and adaptation to the consequences of climate change through the implementation of adaptive management strategies.
