Research Focus
Starting with the application of prebiotics and probiotics in piglets during the Ph.D. thesis, the scientific scope has broadened significantly since then: to date, the research experience includes physiological aspects of animal nutrition, with a special focus on digestive physiology and morphology as well as the interaction of nutrients with the oxidative stress and product quality. In recent years, the effects of plant secondary metabolites, minerals and trace elements have been investigated. In particular, dietary components with potential antioxidant properties (polyphenols, lignans, selenium, manganese, iodine) have been tested in the nutrition of monogastric animals (piglets, fattening pigs, broilers, laying hens, rats).
