Research Focus
My main research focuses on understanding the interactions between crop plants, soil-borne pathogens and beneficial microorganisms to develop sustainable plant protection strategies. I am particularly interested in the role of arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi and endophytic fungi of the genus Serendipita in mitigating the effects of soil-borne and wilt-inducing pathogens, such as Fusarium oxysporum f.sp. lycopersici. Additionally, I investigate the disease complex of Fusarium dry rot in garlic and explore strategies to promote arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi in agricultural systems, where they are often affected by land-use practices. My work combines in-vitro studies with applied experiments and adopts an interdisciplinary approach to unravel the complex dynamics of plant-soil-microbe interactions.
