Research Focus

After studying botany at the University of Vienna, Austria, and completing a postdoctoral fellowship at the University of Seville, Spain, I returned to Vienna, where I obtained my habilitation in systematic botany at BOKU. I study the evolution of various plant groups in South America, the Mediterranean region and Eurasia, investigating the relationships between genetic variation and earth history, polyploidy, reproductive mode and dispersal. My focus is on microevolutionary processes in plant populations.
