Upstream process development and design for the efficient production of recombinant peptides and proteins as well as plasmid DNA in bacterial cells for bio-pharmaceutical, industrial and environmental applications; fusion protein technology, especially in Escherichia coli, for integrated bioprocess design; advanced process and systems characterization; production of peptides containing non-canonical amino acids to improve their biopharmaceutical properties.
