Research Focus
My research focuses on algal biodiversity, its nomenclature, taxonomy, ecology and geographical distribution. The assessment of the ecological quality of surface waters through the biodiversity of phytoplankton and phytobenthos is also at the core of my studies. The key question of my research is to understand the distribution patterns and assembly processes of species in terms of their environmental niches and dispersal abilities, and the factors that might explain their ecological preferences.
