Especially in mountain forest, often with non timber benefits, forest utilization using group selection cutting in combination with cable logging is the working procedure since many decades. In many cases difficulties in reproduction appear, especially in non timber benefits areas, resulting in a high potential of natural disasters involving costly repair planting in weedy, steep slopes with minimal soil deeps. The objective of this thesis is to identify the existing forest community, to analyze the regeneration tendency and to identify preferences and influential parameters of the regeneration as a basis for deriving silvicultural measures and management recommendations. On 110 sample points, located in the area of the community forest Dalaas, along twelve cable logging places, the existing natural regeneration, stand and site attributes were collected. It can be shown, that in mountain forests the regeneration period can take at least 50 years and that there is a high influence on the success of natural regeneration especially from hunting intensity, the cutting direction and the cutting width. The best results could be found in the high intensity hunting area with a cutting direction from southwest to northeast and a minimal cutting width.
