Abstract:: In this study the impact of selected treatment options for residual waste were compared. The indicators used are within the areas of ecology, economy and social affairs. The existing waste volume in Eastern Slavonia was forecasted, with a certain value of separate collection given, which remained unchanged in all scenarios. The reference scenario is a landfill without further pretreatment. The other scenarios include a mechanical-biological pretreatment, some use of the high heat value fraction, and partly use of composting. Ecologic comparison has shown that the scenario with mechanical-biological pre-treatment and the use of the high caloric fraction achieve the highest credits. No considerable differences in the cost per ton can be noticed when comparing the economic indicators.
