The infiltration of rainwater is getting more important in Austria. To relieve the sewers and the sewage plants, infiltration into the groundwater provides an important contribution, however the rules and standards of the federal states afford different implementations of the statutory provisions. The first part of this thesis deals with the relevant laws and technical guidelines, as well as the local policies of the federal states and is the basis for the second part of the work, which identifies the requirements for the state of the art for infiltration systems and examines the suitability of relevant percolation variants for daily use. In the third and final part, the three basic variants are assessed qualitatively by using a SWOT analysis and are farther on quantitatively assessed using a case study, based on the requirements and objectives for infiltration systems. This review also implies the very sparsely used technical adsorbents, for which the SWOT analysis has shown certain advantages. Based on the reviews it was finally possible to give a recommendation, proposed according to specific conditions. The methodology of this study can be exploited to identify the optimal variant of seepage for different local conditions in the field of roof and courtyard areas and minor roads.
