Abstract:: This work deals with the measures to save fuel on farms counting the different types of operation (crops, pastures, orchards). The data was collected through a direct survey so possible ambiguities can clarify by farmers. During the study it was found that especially in orchards hardly material data regarding the fuel consumption per hectare. The study examined parameters such as the average slope, the average field size, the external traffic, the number of crossings in orchards, but also human parameters such as the training and knowledge of farmers. The plants were in Lower Austria and Styria. Using a questionnaire and personal interviews, the data were collected. It could be found that the average slope, the average size, and the outer impact traffic, no influence on the average fuel consumption has. The number of crossings in orchards, 44% of respondents went up to 50-fold, but does have an impact. By application of pesticides is often driven only at partial load and the motor is not being used efficiently. Far greater impacts on fuel consumption but have the human factors. Simple measures such as ballast or vary tire pressure will change; many farmers are not always performed. The training for this study has little effect on fuel consumption. It must be noted that more than half of the farmers surveyed had an agricultural technical college degree. It can be concluded that despite all the technical resources of the man himself can still take the greatest impact on consumption.
