As part of the "Wild Roofs" project, the diaspora entry was investigated using seed traps on two green and two gravel roofs in Vienna. The duration of the experiment extended over the months of May 2018 to August 2018. A total of 5785 diaspores of 38 different species were detected. The most common species were Erigeron canadensis with 2109 individuals (36%), Erigeron annuus with 1494 individuals (26%), Setaria viridis with 766 individuals (13%), Allium schoenoprasum with 562 individuals (10%) and Festuca ovina agg. with 301 individuals (5%). Asteraceae, Caryophyllaceae and Fabaceae were the most common. Among the life forms dominated hemikryptophytes (32%) and therophytes (29%). In the strategy types, the intermediate strategy type predominated. The wind played a major role as a propagation medium and was used by 32 of the 38 species. The number of recorded species and diaspores on the two green roofs was many times higher than on the two gravel roofs. The similarity between diaspora composition and species composition of the vegetation surveys was considered to be low.
