Abstract:
This master thesis addresses the use of drones in agriculture and the data protection requirements that have to be complied with. The aim of the thesis is to examine the various fields of application of agricultural drones in practice and to evaluate them in terms of data protection law. To do so, the following central questions will be addressed: Which data is collected? What are the data streams? Does data protection law apply? If so, what are the consequences? The thesis takes an exclusively legal-dogmatic ap- proach and uses a large number of expert publications on the subject. It will be shown that the use of agricultural drones is already an important part of the digital connected agriculture 4.0 and that the range of applications is diverse. The data collected by agri- cultural drones and then analyzed also includes personal data to which the General Data Protection Regulation applies. The thesis outlines the consequences of this and comes to the conclusion that the use of agricultural drones is possible in accordance with data protection regulations.
