Abstract:
One billion people are starving and the reasons are many and complex. On the one hand, the population is grows in the areas where the poorest people are already starving and on the other hand, the distribution of the available food is uneven. Unfortunately the causes of hunger and misery are exacerbated by corruption and war. Part of the thesis deals with the legal and ethical components of the right to food. The right to adequate food is ethically the most fundamental human right. This includes other human rights such as rights to water, equal rights between men and women, education, land, medical care and health. Time and again, international forums (UN, WTO and NGOs) convened summits on which decisions are taken where high goals are set, which unfortunately cannot be reached or achieved realistically. New technologies (genetics) can make an important contribution to the right to adequate food. The thesis also deals with the ethical dimension of the right to food. To kick off the 65th UN General Assembly (held from 20. to 22. September 2010 in New York during the Millennium Summit) held last year an interim report on the implementation of development goals from ten years ago was moved to its adoption.
