- Abstract:
- Intensive agriculture led to a change in crop management and has had impact on the vegetation of farmland in the Weinviertel. Well-adapted plants become prevalent, maladaptive plants are rare or very occasional. To check if the associated field flora complies with the typical, intensive land use the fields and vineyards of two traditional, conventionally operating farms were used for vegetation surveys according to the phytosociological method and the vegetation units of the classes Stellarietea mediae and Molinio-Arrhenatheretea were worked out. The vegetation of the area can be called characteristic because due to long intensive agriculture no complete associations could be found. The assignment of single species to ecological groups shows that next to the group of indifferent species nitrophilous species with broad ecological amplitude are the second largest group. Few rare species could be found. Intensively used agricultural land with only a few exceptions is the relevant situation in the Weinviertel.
