Abstract:
This diploma thesis points out the current standard of manhole inspection of sewers in Austria. Therefore, an analysis of the process of the inspection at six sewer operators was carried out in combination with the state of the art to find a new way of doing standardized inspections. Another aim was to find the balance between a good inspection on the one hand with a high grade on details and a high daily performance on the other hand. As driving to a manhole, searching and building up the traffic protection is a big time factor, it is appropriate to do it with a high grade of detail. Therefore, the manholes are inspected together with the sewer (combined approach) with an electronic mirror or a combination of electronic mirror and acoustic sensing “Sewer BATT”. Based on this standardized procedure as an outcome a product requirements document was made as a basis for writing software for manhole inspection. In accordance with the involved software developers this was written in “Use Cases”, which is the language for this type of question. All in all, the benefit of this paper is the standardisation of manhole inspection serving as a basis for sewer companies and software developers.
