Since these devices have to be disposed at the end of its life or otherwise treated the issue of the treatment of these devices plays an important role. With this work, a systematic overview of the procedures and methods under development for the treatment of WEEE will be given. Based on a literature review each technology will be described and then evaluated by means of technology portfolio analysis. Afterwards the innovation system of sorting technologies is considered in more detail.
