Digitalization is currently increasingly determining our everyday lives. In this regard, the new planning and construction processing method Building Information Modeling (BIM) is gaining more and more influence in the construction industry. BIM is based on the idea of a three-dimensional model that is accessible to all parties and that contains all geometric and other essential information. Instead of compiling numerous plans from different project participants, with BIM all information is combined in one model, starting with the design, through planning and execution, up to the building operation. While the method is already well established in engineering, building and traffic infrastructure construction, the greening industry is still lagging behind. The aim of this work was to create an overview or a forecast of the future relevance of the BIM working method in landscaping (Garten- and Landschaftsbau, GalaBau). In addition to a literature research, interviews were conducted with seven experts from the fields of landscape architecture, sports facility construction, building construction, landscaping and software development, as well as an online survey. The latter was aimed at all technical employees and managing directors of executing GalaBau companies. Thus, a good overview of the current situation in the green industry was created. Experts agreed that BIM will not be a present topic in landscaping for a longer time to come. The results of the online survey also showed that just under half of all respondents know what BIM is and only 6% of those surveyed stated that they have already carried out projects with the BIM method. Even if projects are still not implemented using the BIM method, the topic of digitization will be expected to be more present in the GalaBau. Above all, measurements via GPS rover and increasingly digital machine control will be used in this regard.
