Abstract:
The thesis deals with the possibility of reuse of used electrical appliances and describes the quantitative scope of the rate of reuse. To show this I did a case study in a social economic disassembly company. The ¿Dismantling- & Recyclingcentre¿, residing in the 14. district in Vienna, achieved a rate of reuse of 4% in the year 2003. In order to achieve this, they repaired and sold some of the appliances, dismantled spare parts, used up different components in the in-house ¿Trash-Design-Manufacture¿ and sold some of the functional appliances in the in-house flea market. By intensifying those activities they try to achieve a reuse-rate of 10% in the year 2004. On the basis of a survey of the amount of appliances worthy to repair in the company, a theoretical analyses of the market potential and the survey of the concrete potential of repair and market, you can see, that the increase of the rate of reuse is unrealistic. To show the concrete potential of repair and market I did interviews with 9 repair companies in Vienna. The result shows, that the absence of repair worthy appliances and the very low market potential are limiting the reuse-rate. The proportion of about 4% is a realistic dimension and we can take this as a guide value for the reuse-rate. In addition to the contribute the company takes in the waste prevention, it is as a social economic company a very important factor in the reintegration of jobless people in the employment market.
