Abstract:: The goal of this thesis was to create a calculation program for backwater curves, flood waves and transport of dissolved substances in open channels. Programs should be user friendly and easy to understand. Microsoft Excel 2003 was used for all calculations. All program files also contain background codes written with the programming language Visual Basic for Applications. Moreover, all three created program files were later integrated in the already existing program package UNDA. The programs offer different possibilities of outputs, and solutions can be illustrated as tables, 3-dimensional diagrams and animations. In this document the used equations as well the methods used for calculation and approximation are explained. Not only are samples of the used codes explained in detail, but a step by step procedure is provided, which can serve as an exploratory tool for novice users.; Beurteilende(r): Loiskandl Willibald
