This thesis deals with the topic ,,Analysis of the quality assurance system of a glued laminated timber plant with further development of a concept for the monitoring of defective products''. For this purpose, the production process with the current quality assurance measures of the plant was analyzed by a process analysis and subsequently, due to the result of the actual analysis, a strategy for managing and prevention of internal and external complaints was developed. In this work the main focus was placed on the prevention of internal defects, as via avoiding or decreasing the amount of internal errors a reduction of rate of external complaints is presumed. Within the process analysis all operational processes were systematically analyzed for specific criteria (such as activities, processes, responsibilities, documents, evidence ...). The presentation of operating processes was carried out by a process map and flow charts that build on each other. The pictorial representation of the processes in the glulam factory could highlight the causes of problems and issues, while ultimately potential improvements are revealed. In the current analysis it became clear that a lot of data is generated and needs to be archived. However, the main issue was that there were no processes and tools in place related to the data in order to locate any problems or to control measures taken in order to avoid mistakes. To address these shortcomings in the production process, it is first or all important to know due to which reason mistakes arise in which production step. There are not only quality-related defects but also errors that included disturbing the production process. For this reason, a concept was developed that made production errors visible and measurable. Besides, since there was no uniform system for handling and managing the external complaints existing, it was newly planned and implemented.
