Due to the decline of non-renewable resources and thus a resulting increase in energy prices, the issue of energy efficiency is getting more into the foreground. This means that, among other things, manufacturing companies are encouraged to keep their energy requirements as low as possible and to work energy-efficient. With the help of an energy management system (EnMs) it is possible to sustainably optimize the energy performance of a company, to reduce the energy consumption and consequently to reduce energy costs. This master-thesis is concerned with the introduction of energy management system according to ISO 50001. By reference to a cooperation project in Lower Austria, the introduction and implementation is presented in four manufacturing companies. The definition of a uniform behavior instruction for the introduction of an EnMs is not possible due to the different circumstances of individual companies. Therefore there are presented specific examples of implementation of the cooperation partners on the subject of energy efficiency. Furthermore, the benefits and challenges of a cooperation project are considered. Finally, the implementation measures of cooperation partners for sustainable energy efficiency will be evaluated quantitative.
