Abstract:
The yield performance of soybean and maize was evaluated in 2013 under Pannonian climate conditions on a silty loam chernozem as affected by different tillage methods. The following tillage methods were applied in four replications: (1) mouldboard ploughing, (2) no-till, (3) deep conservation tillage, (4) shallow conservation tillage, (5) changing tillage. The effects of different tillage systems concerning the yield of winter wheat were additionally clarified by use of long-term data from the same experiment (1997-2013) with two different crop rotation systems. The impacts of various pre-crops on the yield of winter wheat were also included. Under the conditions of the experiment in 2013 - with low rainfall – the diverse tillage methods did not influence yield and yield components. The long-term experiment showed that there were tillage effects as well as an interaction between tillage and year on winter wheat yields after maize. There were no tillage effects on winter wheat yields after the previous crops sugar beet, oilseed rape, cereal, sunflower and soybean. An interaction between tillage and year was observed after sugar beet. No interaction between tillage and year was determined after oilseed rape, cereal, sunflower and soybean. In terms of influences of various pre-crops, maize (1998) and soybean (2002) could significantly increase winter wheat yields compared to sugar beet. Oilseed rape was found to be a better previous crop for winter wheat than sunflower (2000) and maize (2004) (not significant). In 2012, a significantly higher yield of winter wheat after winter wheat could be found than after sugar beet.
