- Abstract:
- This work deals with possible methods to successfully disperse Cellulose in Linseed oil, to apply it on a wooden surface afterwards. The effects of the diverse methods on the modified linseed oil are different. On the one hand it was tried to create a surfactant-stabilised suspension of nanocellulose in linseed oil. On the other hand micro fibrillated cellulose and crystalline nanocellulose were acetylated to different degrees and mixed with linseed oil. In addition to that, sunflower oil modified with maleic acid was used to support the dispersion of cellulose microfibrils and cellulose nanocrystals into linseed oil. In an application test diverse linseed oil varieties were applied on a wooden surface. Sessile drop contact angle, abrasion resistance, gloss and scratch resistance were tested. Through a graphical reprocessing the generated data could give an overview on the created linseed oil variations and their properties. This enables a critical comparison of production methods and furthermore a selection of most adequate procedures.
