The influence of three different row spacing distances, two different seed densities and the fertilization during flowering on yield, yield structure and nitrogen uptake was assessed with the soybean cultivars Lenka, Naya and Xonia in five sowing and fertilization variants (16 cm/30 grains m-2/0 N, 16 cm/60 grains m-2/0 N, 40 cm/30 grains m-2/0N, 40 cm/30 grains m-2/40 and 80 cm/30 grains m-2/0 N). Lenka had the highest and Naya the lowest crop stand height, anyhow, crop stand height was influenced by logding. Lodging was higher with narrower row spacing and with higher seeding rate. Naya was less susceptible to lodging. Xonia had the highest soil cover. The soil cover was higher with 16 cm row spacing and higher seeding rate. Xonia had a higher above-ground dry matter and grain yield, single-plant grain yield, single-pod, a higher pod density and more grains per plant grain. Naya had the highest harvest index and Lenka the highest thousand kernel weight (TKW). Xonia had the highest nitrogen (N) concentrations, good N yields and consequently the highest N harvest index and the highest N utilization efficiency of grain and above-ground dry matter production. The sowing and fertilization variants did not affect the above-ground biomass whereas the grain yield of the cultivars was differently affected the treatments. The pod density and grains pod-1 yield were not affected by row spacing and sowing density, whereas the pods and grains plant-1 were lower with higher sowing density. The grain N concentration was higher with higher seeding rate for Lenka and Naya. The higher seeding rate also increased the N concentration of pod walls and shoot of all three cultivars. The sowing and fertilization variants affected the N grain yield, the N harvest indices and the N utilization. In conclusion, it can be said that the different row spacing had no impact on the yield. Lower stock densities and the Xonia variety are preferable in terms of yield and yield structure
