The focus of this thesis is on the investigation of clay fibercomposite. Therefore specimens are produced by mixing clay and natural fibers together. There were also specimens made by adding three different supplementsto the clay. The impact of different amounts of fibers and supplements on the bending strength and the value of shrinkage were obtained. Therefore specimens were produced by addition of 10ma% of water and different percentages of fibers or supplements. After testing the bending strength the areas of fracture were visually analyzed to draw conclusions on processes of fracture. By adding supplements (linseed oil, boiled linseed oil and slaked lime) it was obtained that the value of shrinkage is decreasing butat the same time there was no improvement concerning the bending strength noticeable. By addition of fibers two of 13 candidates (hemp fibers 2,22MPa and jute fibers 2,34MPa) showed bending strength values higher than the reference value of 2,15MPa. Even though two more investigated materials (processed barley fibers and wood shavings of Picea abies) showed satisfying visual and mechanical properties.
