Abstract:
This work contains the investigation on soil parameters, plant composition, yields, nutritional quality and nitrogen balances of the Ungerhofer farm in 2003. The extensive yield potential took the largest amount of the agriculturally used area of the Ungerhofer farm with nearly 30 % but produced the lowest part of the whole quality-yield with 12 %. The high yield potential of ley farming produced the highest quality-yield per hectar. Nutritional quality parameters were similar to values found in the literature. A number of extensive plant societies as well as intensive ones have been found. Average number of plant species per field increased with declining intensity of utilization from 22 species for the high yield potential of ley farming to 39 species at the extensive yield potential of permanent grassland. Altogether, 215 different types of plants have been found at the farm. The amount of farm manure has been investegated by the stocking density. In 2003, stable manure and liquid manure on the farm generates nearly 1800 kg of nitrogen. The average amount of fertilization was 48 kg N per hectar and per year. The biological N-fixation induced by leguminous contributed more than 50 % to the whole N-supply. The extensive yield potential of permanent grassland experienced the highest nitrogen balance with an average amount of 45 kg N/ha and per year. The high yield potential of ley farming showed the lowest value with 84 kg N/ha and per year. The black box balance showed a surplus of 66 kg nitrogen/ha and per year for the whole farm. Not taking into account nitrogen fixation capacity by leguminous, N-deposition, N-leaching, NH3-emission and denitrification, the value of the balance was 10 kg N/ha and per year.
