To characterise the mechanical properties OSB panels, shear strength and modulus, tensile strength, and Young¿s Modulus were measured. According to the tensile tests, a high increase of shear strength and modulus in the longitudinal direction of the pMDI bonded OSB panels compared to conventionally bonded OSB was evident. As the tensile tests of the OSB surface layers showed, strength and stiffness values were approximately three times higher in the longitudinal than in the transversal direction. In addition, three different glues were examined to determine the glue line bonding strength of sanded and non-sanded OSB joints. MUF and PRF showed bonding strength in the range of the shear strength of the entire OSB. By contrast, PUR bonded joints always failed within the surface layers of the OSB, independent of the bonding mode. MUF and PRF of sanded OSB 8000 joints showed similar results as PUR of non-sanded OSB joints.
