The aim of this work was to portray a brewery that, under certain technical and economic conditions, is optimized from an energy-economic standpoint. Specific emphsis was given to the resulting climatically-relevant emissions. One of the most important findings of the work is that regenerative energy sources, as well as efficient, proven, and economically viable sources of energy, are available at affordable prices. A model brewery with a production level of 500000 hl was used as the basis for the study. The optimal coordination of energy-economics and technical production for individual components of the plant form the basis for low energy consumption, which in turn is important for the use of renewable energy sources. An energy scenario based on the Co-Generation was developed with the help of an ORC facility, which included an absorption-cooling facility. As an energy source brewers grains, depending on the water content of the grain, mixed with hogged (chopped) wood and wood pellets can be used. The establishment of a Co-Generation in breweries is a viable model for the future energy supply, on the one hand specific energy needs are covered, and on the other, the goal of reducing emissions as much as possible is achieved.
