Abstract:
The aim of this study is the further investigation of the grout material GeoPlus from the Company Uretek on its deformation behaviour and the long-term stability. This thesis deals with the material properties of polyurethane and is divided into three parts: a) Deformation behaviour The first part deals with the suitability of GeoPlus as an elastic damper for the Vienna Metro. The properties of GeoPlus are compared to a reference product, which fulfils the minimum requirements as damping material. Uniaxial compression tests are carried out to study the mechanical properties of both products. b) Long-term Stability The longterm compressive strength of GeoPlus is studied with the Arrhenius method. The aging process of GeoPlus is accelerated in two different ways, i.e. by temperature alone and by a combination of water and temperature. The variation of compressive stress with aging time is investigated through numerous compressive tests. An extrapolation is made with the Arrhenius method for both test series. c) Form Stability The volume loss of the aged polyurethane foam is investigated. The difference in volume before and after the aging process is measured and their implication for practice is discussed. Finally, some results in the literature and the physical-chemical mechanisms of the polyurethane foam during the ageing progress are discussed.
