- Abstract:
- This thesis attempts to estimate and analyse in detail the Greenhouse Gas footprint of a multinational organisation using the methodology set out in the WRI/WBCSD Greenhouse Gas Protocol Corporate Standard. Shortcomings of the calculation, especially due to data gaps, are highlighted and recommendations on reduction options are made, based on a detailed analysis of the emission sources and causes. The organisation, with around 500 staff in over 60 countries, was found to have caused emissions of 10,221 tCO2eq in 2008, with the majority of the emissions stemming from air travel, followed by building related energy consumption and vehicle related emissions. Further analysis of the development of the emissions as a whole and the individual indicators is needed to verify the success of implementing the recommendations and to adjust the climate policy of the organisation continuously.
