From 2019-2023 I was a senior scientist and head of the “Environmental Fluid Mechanics” group with a permanent employment contract at WSL and Eawag (ETH Domain), with laboratory and teaching activities at ETH Zurich. Previously, I received a prestigious SNSF professorship from the Swiss National Science Foundation, which enabled me to build a strong research group working on turbulence, environmental fluid flows and transport with a focus on biological and biomedical flows. My funding portfolio (~5 million EURO in the last 10 years) has allowed me to establish new lines of research on turbulent flows, the transport of particles and pollutants in surface flows and porous media. At ETH I gained extensive teaching experience and in particular the courses “Hydraulics I” (2013-2014; approx. 200 students in the BSc Civil and Environmental Engineering) and “Numerical Hydraulics” (2013-2023; approx. 60 students in the MSc Civil and Environmental Engineering).
