Research Focus
Research and publications in the field of (a) functional soil (micro)biology – stable isotope method development; (b) macronutrients (N and P) and carbon cycling in soils and sediments; (c) environmental and biotic factors controlling greenhouse gas emissions (CO₂, N₂O and CH₄); (d) fate and behaviour of contaminants / fertilizers in soil, groundwater and surface waters (rivers); (e) impact of remediation on soil biota (microorganisms and mesofauna) and associated functions (f) impact of climate change on soil biota and carbon & nutrients cycling in agriculture and forestry: Mitigation strategies for agriculture, forestry and renaturation were developed and are continuously revised. All research was and is conducted using stable isotope techniques.
