Book Alpine Rivers

Abstract
This project is designed to collect knowledge, experiences and data on Alpine rivers and to document them clearly and comprehensively in a popular scientific book. Natural, ecological as well as social-scientific characteristics are explained which have decisively influenced natural and cultural Alpine river landscapes and still shape them today. Based on historical and recent surveys, photographs, maps and plans, the diverse and central functions of river landscapes as well as their changes are presented. At the same time, spatially explicit Alpine data and maps as well as case studies provide information for researchers and students, public authorities and NGOs. They can then transfer this knowledge further or us it to promote or make sustainable decisions for the protection and use of rivers
