Changes in soil chemical properties caused by plantation of larch (Larix decidua) on former beech (Fagus silvatica) sites in the Vienna Woods.
Abstract
The influence of plantation of larch on former beech sites is studied. Seven adjacent, 25 - 40 year old larch and beech stands are compared with respect to soil chemical parameters. The effect of a subcanopy and / or a shrub layer of beech on diagnostic and chemical properties of ecto-humus and mineral soil in larch stands will be analysed.
