Germination, growth, and mineral nutrition of Sengonwood (Paraserianthes falcataria = Albizia falcataria) from different natural seed sources in Moluccas (Indonesia) in dependance of soil properties.
Abstract
Seeds from Paraserianthes falcataria, a fast growing, ecologically tolerant pioneer tree, indigenous to Moluccas, which can be used for agroforestry purposes, are collected from edaphically and climatically different regions all over Moluccas and grown on different soils. Germination, seedling propagation, growth and sapling-development are monitored. Methods for seed-treatment and data about best fitting substrate properties for local seed proveniences and best planting methods should be developed.
