In Situ Monitoring of Landfill Related Contaminants in Soil and Water by Infrared Sensing

It is proposed to develop a system based on a new method for continuous monitoring of organic pollutants in soil and water inside and near landfills. The system will support in the safe maintenance of present landfills and in design of new ones. The goal of the proposed project is to help prevent ground and water contamination. It will be a major contribution to the preservation of the environment and to the implementation of EU policies.
