Benchmarking in waste water management
Abstract
The aim of this austrian-wide project is to investigate in costs and technical values of about 80 sewer systems and treatment plants to evaluate cost-efficiency and environmental performance for both the management and federal departments. Benchmarking as an instrument for comparison of specific cost and technical values shows costsaving potentials to come to least-cost solutions and to create a quasi competitive situation in public sector. This management -tool installed worldwide in many industries since the early 90s with rising success should be transformed and used in the waste water management.
