Hydraulic Scale Model on Raising of Brimsu Dam

The Kakum River is the main source of water supply to Cape Coast, feeding the existing impounding reservoir at Brimsu Dam at the northern outskirts of the Cape Coast municipality. A concrete gravity dam at Brimsu forms the impounding structure, being in operation since 1928. The objectiv of this study was to compare flow conditions downstream of the dam in existing and proposed situation with the intention to contribute to a safe design of the dam reconstruction and downstream structures.
