Abstract
Selected arable farms in Romania, Slovakia, Serbia and Austria are analysed in mechanisation, farm facility inputs (Fuel, fertilizer, pesticides, etc) and crop yields. After converting of the input-parameter in energy-equivalent the energy efficiency is calculated. The soil tillage systems are analysed deeper because the fuel consumption for soil tillage is a big energy consumer in arable farms. Different energy saving strategies on farm level are identified and applied to the farms. Besides the potential of integration of biobased fuels (e.g. canola or sunflower oil, FAME ) are analysed to make the farm fuel self-sufficient.
